Biography
Brittany focuses on representing clients in high-stakes and complex divorces. Brittany’s clients frequently have family law cases involving business valuations, trusts, executive compensation, equity awards, tax considerations, significant nonmarital claims, and complicated property divisions. Known for her practical and customized approach, Brittany tailors legal strategies to each client’s unique needs with a goal of empowering her clients to make the best decisions in their circumstances.
For the first 17 years of her practice, Brittany represented clients exclusively in traditional family law matters, which cases are premised upon the adversarial court process. Since 2022, Brittany’s primary focus has shifted to Collaborative divorce, believing it to be a better option for most people and families facing divorce.
At its core, Collaborative divorce is an agreement by both spouses in a divorce process – and their lawyers – to resolve all of the disputes in a respectful and out-of-court approach that emphasizes dignity and fairness. In Collaborative divorce, the goals and interests of the family guide the process and substantive options, rather than what is often a more “cookie-cutter” approach to divorce in many traditional cases. Often, Collaborative divorce combines the expertise of a multi-disciplinary team to address legal, financial, relational and parenting challenges that arise during a divorce. Brittany aims to have the right professional providing input at the right time to support clients in making the best decisions possible in their circumstances. Collaborative divorce can help families navigate life transitions with integrity, creating sustainable outcomes for everyone involved.
An initial consultation with Brittany typically includes an exploration of process options for a divorce or other family law matter, given a potential client’s goals, needs and circumstances.
